September 30th, 2009: MST Co. at Word on the Street in Vancouver 2009

They chanted, No Crow Toes! Still, the reading went on.

Michael and Chris get political and take it to the streets.

September 27th, 2009: MST Co. to read at Word on the Street

It's true, all the rumours, but especially this one: This year MST Company will be represented at Word on the Street, where Word Profiteer, Michael Sasi, will read from Super Rupert -- the Part with the Shadow Puppets and Some Talk of Fluffy Pancakes, and lead children in a protest against his very own reading! It's certain to confuse and entertain equally.

4:00 at the Kids Tent, Vancouver Public Library (at Howe and Robson). Signs will be provided. As a Word Profiteer I cringe at the fact it's all free--every reading, every event!--so come and don't pay anything.

If that's not enough for some of you more spoiled ones, Kristian Adam is certain to be painting amongst the traffic, and he can talk to donkeys. I also reckon the whole Crow Toes Quarterly staff will be there, too, unless those guys plan to drive that unreliable CT Cruiser again.

What's Word on the Street? It's Canada's biggest literary festival. It takes place at the downtown library where the powers that be shut down several streets in order to make room for the 40,000+ people who turn out every year. This one promises to be the biggest yet. For more information, go here: www.thewordonthestreet.ca.

September 15th, 2009: Where Are You? What Are You Up To? Is it us?

While we often wonder the same thing about all of you, we have received hundreds of emails lately asking the same questions...What's the deal? Why aren't you updating your website? Are you still typing? Didn't Super Rupert come out eons ago?

The simple answer is yes. To elaborate: We are currently in the process of putting together books so good and so entertaining that we haven't had time to either dilly or dally. Word Profiteer, Michael Sasi, is not only starting to enjoy some of his own success as a writer of his stupid adult stories ('Grandpa' in Subterrain #52, The Nym Nums with Kristian Adam at Ayden Gallery), he is typing new manuscripts for kids ten hours a day. He practically never sleeps, and to be honest, it shows.

Everything is still top secret and under wraps, so just hold on a bit longer and probably a little while after that. We promise, the long wait will be worth it.

September 28th, 2008: Crow Toes Quarterly and Kristian Adam at Word on the Street - Vancouver Public Library

Suite 101.com Article about Word on the Street:

Of great interest and enjoyment were the surreal art and illustrations of Kristian Adam. Perched in the middle of walking traffic, this artist had a show-stopping crowd parked on the sidewalk watching as he painted beautiful and enigmatic pictures. The appearance of such an artist proved that coordinators of Word on the Street understand that the passion of art and creativity has many mediums.

May 24, 2008: Crow Toes Quarterly the Best Magazine of 2008

Crow Toes Quarterly has just been named the Best Magazine of 2008 in The Richmond Review's Best of Richmond awards. The weekend edition of The Richmond Review, which hit the newsstand on Saturday May 24th, featured Crow Toes Quarterly publisher and editor Christopher Millin. “If you’re looking for stories about fluffy bunnies and happy birthday parties you have come to the wrong place,” Millin was quoted about his quarterly children’s fiction and poetry magazine, which tends towards the darker side of ‘kids lit.’

Crow Toes Quarterly is one of the BC Association of Magazine Publisher newest members. The award-winning children’s magazine celebrates its sixth issues this month. www.crowtoesquarterly.com http://www.bcamp.bc.ca/news/

May 20, 2008: The Missing Posters of Arthur the Crow

Your most humble and amazing Word Profiteer took the time to help Launch the Sixth Issue of Crow Toes Quarterly with a public reading of The Wickedly Wealthy Charley Forbes Franchise at Christianne's Lyceum (see clip below - May 10th). The reading was scheduled to feature Arthur the Crow, star of the story*, but as the empty cage aptly demonstrated, Arthur was nowhere to be seen. The President of MST Company graciously instructed those present to help him find his infamous crow. If you have seen Arthur the Crow, please contact us immediately. [MORE POSTERS: http://www.crowtoesquarterly.com/Arthur.htm ]

* Arthur is hardly the star, though he will undoubtedly tell you otherwise.

MARCH 29th, 2008 - KRISTIAN ADAM SHOWING AT CHRISTIANNE'S LYCEUM OF ART OF LITERATURE (www.christiannehayward.com)

Kristian Adam has been displaying three original works at Christianne’s Lyceum of Art and Literature in Vancouver to rave reviews from children and ambivalent smiles from adults. The Lyceum runs reading and writing programs for kids of all ages and is affiliated with Kids Books on Broadway. Kristian has joined the roster at Bellevue Gallery [www.bellevuegallery.ca] in West Vancouver with notable children’s illustrators Kathryn E. Shoemaker and Kim LeFave.

When the curator, Lynn Ray, arrived in the middle of a kindergarten class to hang the art, the children were instantly drawn to the pink elephants. “How did he do that?” exclaimed one particularly vocal child, “it looks so real!” Another refused to leave what she coined her ‘Marshmallow Men’ from another piece. They will now all grow up to be artists!

MARCH 27th, 2008 - PRINTS BY KRISTIAN ADAM AT CROW TOES QUARTERLY (www.crowtoesquarterly.bigcartel.com):

The best news of all is that Kristian has released two of these paintings as signed, limited edition 11” x 14” prints exclusively through Crow Toes Quarterly’s online store for just $35 including shipping and taxes. ‘Get To Work You Stupid Reindeer’ and ‘Pink Elephants’ will look perfect in place of that ratty, old thing you have hanging on your wall now. Get yours before it's too late at www.crowtoesquarterly.bigcartel.com.

MARCH 20th, 2008 - I WOULD NOT, COULD NOT, READ CROW TOES ON A BOAT

Well, now you can! With the amazing upcoming spring issue, Crow Toes Quarterly makes its debut on the magazine racks of all BC Ferries. Whether you are headed to Victoria or Nanaimo or even the Gulf Islands, those two hours of excruciating boredom will be replaced with thirty-six pages of eye-popping and mind-blowing excitement. Better still, reading a copy Crow Toes will keep your parents from telling you all those dreadful stories about their boring childhoods when they didn’t have playfully dark literature in a convenient, glossy, full color format.

JANUARY 14th, 2008 - A NEW WEBSITE FOR A NEW YEAR AND A BIG SURPRISE FOR CROW TOES READERS

MST Company now has a website. You are here, reading this, so it must be true. You're welcome! I mean, Welcome!

Despite the impressive work by Allen the Spider's Web Design Studio, this site is still in its early stages. Worry not because soon you will be able to spend mirthful hour upon hour in front of your computer instead of being with your friends and getting exercise outside. That is cause enough for celebration! Mayor Murdock's Hot Totty's for everyone!

Even more cause for celebration is MST Company's third publication with Crow Toes Quarterly Literary Magazine. The issue will be available at the end of the month. Check out the Narrator's blog for the full story at thenarratorsblog.blogspot.com
